Discussion:Â
Organized in 1894 in Trenton, New Jersey, the Mellor and Company mark features the BritishÂ
lion and unicorn, royal crown, and shield bearing the monogram of the Cook Pottery Co. withÂ
the name Mellor & Co. below. At the time the company was established, English pottery wasÂ
highly sought after in the United States, thus, in order to compete, many American companiesÂ
made their marks resemble British ones.Â
