      Organized in 1894 in Trenton, New Jersey, the Mellor and Company mark features the British<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      lion and unicorn, royal crown, and shield bearing the monogram of the Cook Pottery Co. with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      the name Mellor & Co. below. At the time the company was established, English pottery was<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      highly sought after in the United States, thus, in order to compete, many American companies<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      made their marks resemble British ones.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
