As autumn sets in, campus comes alive with vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold. This fall, the Law Library is collaborating with the University’s Office for Sustainability to invite you to step away from your desk and join us for a guided nature walk celebrating the season’s beauty.
Joseph Day, University of Richmond’s Natural Areas Steward, will lead an ornamental tree tour of campus. Joseph will share his expertise on the unique and beautiful trees scattered across our award-winning campus, offering insights into the role these trees play in our ecosystem.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, take in the changing leaves, and appreciate the natural spaces that the University has on offer. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, looking for a study break, or simply hoping to enjoy some time outdoors, this tour promises to be both relaxing and informative. Oh, and it’s a great opportunity to hang out with your Law Librarians too!

For those of you interested in learning more about Virginia flora ahead of the tour, I recommend checking out the Virginia Department of Forestry’s Tree Identification Guides! They are thorough, well made, and cover the common native trees and shrubs of Virginia. I particularly like their acorn and nut identification guide! Additionally, the Office of Sustainability is always looking for volunteers to help out, especially in the Eco-Corridor. If you would like to learn more about how you can contribute to sustainability on our campus, check out their page.
